on the bike
Is this sport easy?
No, not really. Not at all. So why do we do it?
When you are not fit you suffer and get dropped.
When you are fit you suffer and don’t get dropped. You actually suffer longer the better you get.
What draws you to a sport that causes you so much pain and agony?

Its the only sport that when things are good you smile. When everything is hurting your grimace looks like a smile. When you look back at the pics everthing looks great so you figure why not...I'll do it again tomorrow.
When you are fit you suffer and don’t get dropped.
Says who?
we're all closet masochists? Would that make the race promoters sadists?
awww yeah ~ anytime you can slip a "Princess Bride" allusion into a blog comment ...
Olaf - I suffer, therefore I am... We keep doing it because the body and mind quickly forget the pain - and remember the pleasure...of the scenery...the camaraderie...the victory...and yes, even the defeat.
Because when you do it long enough you can decorate your Christmas tree with medals.
Shit you earned instead of shit you purchased.
Also, even if you suck at racing, it still makes you fast enough to kick the crap out of those who don't. Trickle down, pass it around.
where else can you be a guy and shave your legs and think its socially acceptable?
*Sigh* I am still looking for my Wesley.
And, I don't know if the "When you're fit you don't get dropped" has been adequately fact-checked. You might want to get your interns on that.
Because knowing the person next you is suffering incrementally more than you are makes it all worthwhile.
For stains on my chamois (sp?)
um, I think you suffer shorter the better you are.
