UN F*#%ING BELIEVABLE!! This guy CANNOT be allowed to get away with this without a SURGE of bicycle advocates (and just plain decent human beings)letting him know what an ass he is.

meanwhile this country is dying of obesity....

Someone needs to tell the Dutch that using a bike for transportation is ridiculous and naive.

$1 million dollars a year makes it a miniscule part of the energy bill, not a major part.

He's looking for soundbites and hoping, or knowing, that polarization will protect him from criticism. "Oh, any critique of me is just from those out of touch Democrats."

Not one substantive criticism of the value of supporting alternative transportation. Not one.

this guy is the george carlin of congress

he's right, I don't know a single republican who rides a bike.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

His argument would be similar to something like this:

"Can you believe it? Can you just believe these people? Doctors are now arguing that to curb lung cancer, we should stop smoking! Of all the ridiculous things!!! Instead of pouring our money into coming up with a HEALTHY, NONTOXIC cigarette, the democrats are trying to convince us to change our lifestyles!!!"

.... oh. wait a minute.

Oh wait, this guy is so paranoid that he is accusing a Republican DA, who had hosted a fundraiser for McHenry, of orchestrating a political smear campaign against him for going after one of McHenry's aid. The aid is a being charged for voter fraud. Voter fraud, the issue that Republican bring up time and time again when there are proposals are brought up to reduce the cost of voting.

This is political discourse. No wonder people tune out to politics.

You guys are missing the point - that $1 million dollars could pay for the construction of the men's restroom at the next nuclear power plant.

How the fukk do people like this get elected?

I say we kick the voters of North Carolina out of the country for being returds.

of course, using my logic, our entire country should prolly be kicked off the planet...

Voting...yeah there is a system that works.
Do you want the puppet on the left, or the puppet on the right?

Hey FD,
Based on working with government agencies in traffic engineering, I would say the 1 million might cover a study on how many stalls and best location. The design of the bathrooms would be another million, or at least to a 65% level. Revisions after the 3rd submittal would require a project budget amendment.

Don't believe me? I can show the dumb ass redline comments Caltrans came up with for the I-580 Redwood Road project I am working on.
One of their brilliant engineers gave us comments about capacity based on a study from the wrong freeway. "That TIS study is from I-80, not I-580".

1 million is nothing. I am amazed that anyone is even awake during this morons speaking time. He is just looking for attention.

That speech was not for anyone who would actually analyze the policy. Just filling the sling with mud and letting it fly. Maybe we do need exclusively red and blue states. That, or we need to grow up.

But, apparently the provision in the legislation would give bicycle commuters a $20 a month tax credit. I'm not sure how they would monitor it, but I generally like the idea, since I'd be bagging $20 a month. I'm not sure that it would actually encourage people to ride.

So, the complaint should not be that it is too much, but maybe not enough, and largely symbolic.

Give tax breaks to businesses to install showers or bike lockers.

dr-nitro said...

A woman already does have more power than him. Her name is Nancy Pelosi. Oh, but that probably just a result of some liberal affirmative action policy. If he has any integrity, he should resign in protest.
