time to corrupt some 'utes.
ok, i'll admit it ... my body is pretty F'd up from this life of sin and retardation. From my days as a tri-geek crashaholic, to when i started throwing myself on chip-seal, to the countless pounds of dirt i've had face-planted down my throat ... my body has taken more hits than TommyChong's Bong.
Yesterday i had some quacks inspect the x-rays and they pointed out all the spinal column compressions, disc-thingie problems, and nerve hole pinching whatevers. They then talked about the problems with my plevic girdle and something called a sacrum and blah, blah, blah.
I left and said i'd fix it my fukking self.

but oh, i am a bad healer. i push too hard, too soon, and i just can't be bothered with shit getting in my way. i reckon this area is where being a pain-junkie sets you on the path of self-destruction.
"you're gonna have some serious arthritis in the years to come."
meh ... go tell it to a mountain.

Random whirls in the life of a bike geek ~
- Tonite is the Wednesday Chariot Races at the track. Sabine and I are going ... maybe to race, mostly to heckle.
- Barry Bonds broke a record. yippee.
steroids. - Patterson Pass RR is this weekend. I love this race, but last year i was sick and DNF'd. and this year my ass is backwards and i will be hard pressed to survive.
that sucks. but, i'll go down swinging. - Espart TT on Sunday ... well, this is going to be one of the stupidest things i'll do all year. but, i kinda wanna see how Hootch does on his fancy-pants rig ~ so, i'll prolly roll over there.
- Natz qualifier ~ because there is idiocy flowing strong like bull in these veins ... i think i'm gonna try and scoot back to the Hellyer'Drome after Esparto to do the Scratch Race.
yeah ~ mas retardo.
i'd try and get somebody to do the Madison with me after the Scratch ... but, i doubt my body will let me race any of the above, so i'd hate to leave a partner without a hand job. - oh, TiTilations ...
Contador to announce something friday ...
how exciting! ... tell me when it's over.
this post blows, but i gots too much work to do.

just so you know...you are getting no sympathy from me when you come back hobblin from Esparto....
but you LOVE me!
OV- you don't have to go to esparto to see the rig, just come out to Santa T today..do you know the way to san jose..lalalala
i would do the madison w/ya if youd have me, but i'd probably crash someone. i just wish i could make it back for the team pursuit...i love that thing.
ask them to put that team thing at the end for me and the Hell man's.
Do you still want to be bike racing in 10-15 years? After 30 years of it I think in some ways it's still getting better-racing with your buds and challenging yourself.
We don't need no stinkin' doctors ...
Nothing against the profession, but sometimes I can evaluate the info and the odds relative to my situation and come away with an answer I feel is best for me.
Got a couple of decent pics of VB from last Sat at Hellyer.
I still laugh when I recall my pelvis docs instructions for my rehab....
"let the pain be your guide"
he told me this while I was not on my pain meds two days after accident because I very much liked pain being my guide.....
"you're gonna have some serious arthritis in the years to come."
I think I am going to be in that boat with you...
Kash just beat AC to the punch by getting popped for homolo-genius blood doping. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/08082007/58/kashechkin-positive-rocks-astana.html
Chariot races?
uhh...
"you're gonna have some serious arthritis in the years to come."
meh ... go tell it to a mountain.
no laughing matter.
arthritis sounds all funny and far off, but when it fux you up, it fux you up good. Ounce of prevention and all that bro -- take care of yourself now. Believe me, when you're hobbling around with a cane, you won't be wishing you'd've done 115 races that one year instead of 98.
I sure hope Hutch starts after me on Sunday so I can catch a glimpse of that new TT in motion. That's the only thing that can justify me getting up early on a Sunday morning to do a totally flat TT in the middle of nowhere.
It will be my first trip back to Esparto since I was fired by RH Phillips Winery 11 years ago.
my body has taken more hits than TommyChong's Bong
that's pure poetry right there.
Dope dope dope dope... Kashechkin has now
tested positive. FAIL.
Hey Phipps, tell us the story of why you got canned?
I don't know if it applies to all situations but my Pappy has been taking asprin, (not that sissy ibuprophin stuff) daily to ward off
arthritis for 30 years that I know of and he'll be 84 next month and he swears by it.
Yo OV, you wanna look up what trying to come back too soon and too strong will do to you, check out Ryan Cox... He had a surgery to fix a kinked artery in his thigh, moved around too much (probably went training) and ended up ruptering the damn thing and bleeding to death. Damn!
I'm all for getting back quick and all. And being on the long, slow road to recovery myself, I hear ya! But doing any stupid Cal Cup race just ain't worth it, yo! If the choice is a couple measly laps pedaled in agony (just to prove some macho point) vs. longer and happier lifetime with friends and loved ones, it's a no-brainer.
Also, when you're INJURED, you're a total drain on your loved ones (because they have to help you out). But it's temporary. When you're DISABLED later on, you're like that for life, and everyone is going to have to deal with your/my/all of our whiny asses forever.
AJM
well said andy, marskitty, shawndoggy....
i dunno about the quacks you talked to, but, every now and then a doc knows what they are talking about.
i sure as shit hope mine does.
please take care of yourself.
did s/he at least touch you this time?
hehe
you said 'plevic'
Olaf, GET RECOVERED. read a book or something.
dood looked more in pain holding me up last night, than he did whooopin my ass in the miss-n-out......
I did seem him stop to old man stretch a few times, didn't look good....
Your 100+ races a year could come to a screeching halt faster than you cn say "NO"!
Like fine wine, don't guzzle, sip the enjoyment cycling has to offer.
Sometimes rest is a good treat too.
