the king is dead, long live the ...

quel supreese

So, procycling gets a couple of snippets de bizarro in the latest news flashings. First the little Condor that could claims he's a clean conqueror. Bully for him ... but do we need some hyped up press conference with "no questions, no questions" to hear it? wha'ever, man.

Still, i reckon it should be remembered that the Operacion Puerco files have never really been inspected in an honest day's glare of daylight.

so, it is what it is.
-

But, the 2nd tidbit is more of a shocker and ... honestly, has got to be some sort of sporting record.

I mean, has any other sports team won the highest profile event in its rubric and then folded immediately thereafter? Has any cycling outfit ever not been able to secure sponsorship aftergoing 1-3 in the TdF?

embarrasing.

So, there's no more Disco and 20-odd cyclists are now having to go hat-in-hand out amongst the wolves in search of a paycheck next year. all those cats who signed during le'Tour are prolly pretty damn happy with their gamble nowadays.

Just one thought ... you think Armstrong has a few million lying around the sofa he could spare to run the team for another year?

just askin'.

world of hurt

i'm a believer that there are two separate, but equal, needs of training ~ one for the body, and one for the mind.

the body asks for engine work ... for repetition, intelligent design, consistency.

the mind demands sacrifice.

last nite ... let's just say there were a few virgins left bleeding and violated on the altar.

BennyJacMaynard was his usual high-octane self. The Nolan-ator announced that we were running well on time and offered to stick around for us to circle 100-laps for the Points Race.

We were ahead of schedule because the C race was sick-fast with SanJose Steve lapping the field and Jen Coler attacking every 4 minutes. The whole C crew kept on the gas and the average speed kept going up and up.

The B race was more tactical with the first few sprints being bunch gallops ... but then the last half was a good bit of drag race attrition as a group finally escaped and took a lap on the field. Good race.

Anyway, Ben was a wrecking crew and i decided to hate him thoroughly even though he gave me a ride there from the sCruz. I think i'm going to have to make a special delivery to the JM household ... a couple bags of nuclear-level sugar treats to keep Chase up spinning ballistic all nite long. Because, apparently ~ Chloe isn't quite squeaky enough to stop them from getting a few hours sleep most noches.

that just will not do.
-

Aside from Ben laying Hur all over our asses ... JunkaDonk and Millah were pretty much kicking my groin purple most of the nite. But it was good training for the mind. Because i haven't hurt that bad, suffered through grinding teeth and spasming muscles in a long, long, LONG time.

and i liked it.

i'm of the dipshittery opinion that the mind needs to be trained to accept pain, to build up powers of tolerance for it. That's why i love big training blocks ... you know, when you wake up so tired and sore that it feels like your ass will explode if it comes anywhere near contact with a saddle. At those times, it takes a huge leap of will power and mental snap to straddle the steed and steam out for another session of suffering.

Those are good days and teach us how to accept the pain.

Well, unfortunately, i don't get those kind of blocks right now ... but, i've been given the chance to simulate the pain with this crash rehab ... so, i'm taking advantage of it.

And last nite the boys road hard for 99 laps ... and i was in the locker for 98 of them.

so if it doesn't kill me ...

did you just find that disco/mice pic? or having you been holding on to that for a special occasion like this one? it's certainly a keeper

What I thought interesting in the Disco statement was that they said that they stopped discussions with potential sponsors midstream. Maybe they got nervous about impending discoveries over their new golden boy.

Unfortunately, I think that they were a victim of Bush-like blindness. "Oh, that bag of blood with Ivan's name on it is not real. He's to pretty to cheat." The Contador situation is a bit different, in that if what is coming out is true (always a big question mark in the soup-o-rama supectulative world of cycling these days), then they actually had little reason to be concerned. That said, drop a couple of bucks and look into a bit further. "Hey Spain, are you covering up for your young up and comer?"

But again, someone somewhere needs to lay down the law, establish a clear rule of law, and devote proper resources for enforcing the rule of law.

Oh well. The end of 7/11-Motorola was not the end of American pro cycling. There are many more domestic squads than there were in early 90s, and one of them is looking to be well positioned to take Disco's spot in the Protour soon. And this one is coming in with eyes wide open (please, please, please).

Your game face masks any signs of suffer, seriously. Or I just don't know you well enough to know when you are hurting. You told me you were hurting the night before and brought the whoopin down from above.....

======================

BJM is unreal on the track. I have never been ridden off a wheel on track like that, ever and he did it twice. First time with the notches and second with the acceleration that you cant see but can sure feel....

I really hope he keeps the track up because he is without a doubt Olympic bound if he rides into it right. And should really consider mass starts if he already hasn't....

He is going to shake it up at Nationals like never before, hope he gets the qualifier under his belt......

Robin Horwitz said...

So true. That was a major point of argument with other folks on fixedgearfever.com. Some of them thought BJM was over-hpyed but I saw it with my eyes.

Stephen Hill who's been around track racing for a long time agreed with what I thought. He felt that BJM could go all the way for USA Cycling in Beijing Olympics.

Now I really need to set up a UCI track team and make BJM the heart of that team.

pain

not a good topic right now

jAndy donka-donk said...

we could NK him, but then we would have to live with being beaten by a gimp when he only laps us twice.....

The drawing board is empty, is needs some notes under the BJM section. Danny is back soon, his expertise is needed......

B-Jock Maynard spankin the field again... what else is new.

As usual, Hernando craves his spankins.

Maniac has been spanked himself many times, he has been beaten up, and sent home. So just remember he is a fast bot in the USA, but has been beat up before, and you are only as good as your last race.

Jonkadonk - Its not a pain face as much as a pain body. I could spot it no problem from the infield. I did not see it Wed, but I definately saw it last night.

Hi All...........

The reason why Disco Dancing has stopped for next racing season is because Bruyneel was tired and said he wanted to retire. Armstrong was considering pulling together some resources to keep it going for another year, but Bruyneel said he was over it.
Rumor has it Danielson is going to turn into a coffee bean farmer and quit cycling. I also heard that Leipheimer must grow what little amount of hair on his head he has if he is going to sign with another team, and this team will be Saunier Duval. Hincapie will be forced to race with 3 T Mobile phones strapped to his handle bars, helemet, and giant oakley sunglasses during each race next year. And finally, Contador is going to sign with Quck Step and be forced to lead out Boonen in the sprints, even the intermiediate sprints.

Funny how a pain face is connected to a pain body but velo bella seperates the two. Seems like she might need to wear her reading glasses out there?

Sounds like a cookie eater to me~

Velo Bella said...

I need reading glasses for some of this jibberish

jAndy donka-donk said...

nothing wrong with a cookie eater, oatmeal raisin myself....

and she makes a great point, cuz he doesn't have a pain face. I wont learn the pain body though, I think you have to see him naked for that lesson....

disco -- phooey! and how will that decision impact the masters and new juniors programs? is there still any relationship with Larry's boys?

dr-nitro said...

Oh yeah, the local Discos. Tailwind is sticking around, so maybe they can provide some structure for local sponsorship. Apparently they almost landed a deal, but decided not to go through, given the current climate. Insert speculation here______.

I heard that Contador is going to sign with Rabobank, and Bruyneel is going to as well.
