don't taunt the ego ...

[NEWS FLASH]

Cal Giant's young Max Jenkins won the U-23 National Road Race.

that is HUGE, young man! Good on 'ya.

Screw the Spoilers ...

Vino takes a tumble and loses over a minute to the GC contenders. My-oh-my ... this is shaking out to be one helluva Tour. To say the bubbly will have a sour taste to it if Kloden wins is ... an understatement.

i think i'd rather drink squeezed out chamois drippings.

I don't know why i dislike that guy so much. Maybe it's his comments after the opening mini-TT:

All went as I expected. It was nevertheless important for me to get as much time as I could to my direct adversaries in the race. [CN]
Not 'our adversaries' ... my adversaries. After all the talk about him and Vino being a dream team against all-comers ~ i don't see it being anything but that guy going for the win ... at all costs.

i guess that's what it takes.

for some.

Track last nite was really cool. The C's were big enough (again) that they split it into 2 competitive groups. There were half a dozen women riding very prettily. VB's Katie N and Karla the Grumpys were accelerating every chance they could. Karla ended up walking away with the Omnium after a nice effort saw her cross the line first in the Win-n-Out. Another woman who was fun to watch was new-comer Beth Newell ... i think it might have been her first Wed Nite affair and she rode bravely, took risks, and brought a few friends to cheer the action on. That's the way you do it, sistah.

Sweetie is thinking about grabbing one of these bargain Bianchi's for some track shenanigans. She saw Katie's and thought it just might be cute enough to get her back out on the track. And, for under 6 bills, that's not a bad toss of dollars.

Maybe i can get her to lead me out for some sprints.

Wedekind the Grey doubled up in a couple races and looks as though he might be serious about ... one day ... getting back to big-hit racing shape. Either that, or he just wanted to make me jealous of his MoonSuit again. bastich.

The B's had a good fast group with Matt McNamara taking the omnium with consistent placings all nite long. I'm pretty sure he told me it had been something like 412 years since he'd last raced the track ... so it was hip to see there was still some speed in them fossilized legs.

PROMAN's Shelley Olds got in one more speed workout before heading up to BC Superweek with Hooptie. They are gonna have a blast up there. Rob's showing very good form of late and his aggressive riding and fabulous kit will see him garnering some attention up there in Canuckistan.

Shelley has a very good chance of winning some decent cashola, i reckon. Really wish we were able to join the Velo Bella contingent heading up, as well. Stellar, the Kerlinator, lil' Ninja, JenJen, and dirtyMarian are gonna go head north and make fabulous menaces of themselves.

man ... that's when you need a video camera.

Girls Gone Wild ~ canada style.

Finally got some squeeker wheels for the track. Very cool cat sold them to me for a decent price and ... they actually do make a difference. Last nite we had a mellow crew out for the A's, but there was still ample opportunity to experiment with how the wheels performed.

To be honest, i wasn't all that interested in pedaling that hard for the evening, as i'd put in a good 4 hours of serious tempo work the day before.

But, some wank started making fun of my flower and giving me the snot-nose treatment ... so, i decided to rub his face in my crotch and show him that, though i look silly ~ i'll still ride his tubby ass off my wheel any time of choosing.

haters suck.

I want to read Max's race report, I cant wait two weeks for the explanation......

And who is the hater? You said Tubby and that eliminated anyone I would have guessed....

I was not there Mike - you must be delirious.

I did wake up with a very foul smell stuck in my nose though. Kinda smelled like, cheesy-poofs, or, um, pirates booty? Like a bad dream, maybe I was there???

You go girl, don't ever let a man tease you about your flower!

Stay tuned for photo evidence of Canada/road trip antics...

Stellar

Today the race begins.
The tour is pretty boring when everyone sucks wheel to a podium spot. But to battle back after losing time in the early stages...that's racing. Bring it!

Just like Robbie fighting his way back to the front through 180 riders to win the day. Now that's a race!

Stella made me snortle

doesn't he know that only we can make fun of your flower?!

X Bunny said...

to cheer you up, you can be the first to use the new glitter that should be here any day after a long and arduous search for glitter that would meet our standards

'teenage girls will love the way it sparkles'

that's what the ad said

better to be likened to teenage girls,

than liken teenage girls.

that's my motto.

and for people interested in masters nationals going on right now...MarcoFanelli (marcofanelli.blogspot.com) has a good little blog on the highlights there! Seems like the CA riders, both north and south, have done quite well.

thanks for the shout-out! i had a blast last night! my tecate drinking friends had a great time trying to figure out what the hell was going on during the races. they also said "the safeway guy was hot-t-t-t". can't wait to head back out next week!

PAB(a.k.a.CID) said...

Pasco was at the track last night?

Grey said...

yeah, don't let anybody deflower you, hernando!!

er, um.

track is fun. yeah, let's not confuse "serious" bike racing with what it really is: an opportunity to out-skinsuit someone.

tell us, why do you wear the flower?

guess 1: it offsets the cheesy-poof smell
guess 2: you forgot your own helmet and had to borrow the queens
guess 3: so you can hold it at the podium at those flower-less podium awards.

cheesy-poof

... still killin' me.

i'm getting that inked on the new bike.

Kloden may have broken his coccyx.

norcalcyclingnews.com said...

you said "coccyx"

Dino Dante said...

Getting spanked by Shelley was an honor, and thanks again for letting suck wheel when you lapped my tired arse. Cheers, Dino

dr-nitro said...

I could have said butt bone, keeping in line with the cheesy-poof booty topic above.

dr-nitro said...

Also, on a serious note (sorry), don't you think you're being a bit harsh on Kloden? After all, he did leave T-Mobile, where he clearly would have been numero uno after Jan's dismissal to take a position on a squad where Vino was clearly numero uno. He was criticized then for not wanting to assume a leadership role.

Me thinks that his quote after the prologue was one of those lost in translation things.

norcalcyclingnews.com said...

absolutely ...

dr-nitro said...

Confirmed crack coccyx for Kloden, so stop picking on the poor kraut, you cheesy-poofta meanie.

Those are nice new wheels. Are they the "clydesdale" version or the "bony ass" version? (trying to stay with the theme here...)

I noticed Beth's riding when she came out to the Timed Events Day a month ago. She had almost no clue what she was doing on her first day out, but she had two things that a good track racer needs: natural speed, and a willingness to try something new even though other people could see every mistake, if she made one. -Can't teach that.

WAY TO BE BITTER AT KLODEN FOR NOT USING THE WORD "OUR" AND USING THE WORD "I"

B.F.D.

I WANT TO SEE HIS TEAM ALL REACH OUT AND TURN HIS CRANKS FOR HIM

GIVE THE GUY A BREAK, SO HE SAID "I" INSTEAD OF "OUR"

W.T.F.

EVERY TIME I WATCH A ARMSTRONG INTERVIEW AFTER HE PUT TIME INTO KIS RIVALS HE NEVER SAYS "OUR" RIVALS, HE KNOWS IT IS MANO Y MANO WHEN PUSH COMES TO SHOVE AND THE TEAMS CAN NOT HELP YOU IN A TIME TRIAL, BUT SURE THEY CAN MAKE LIFE EASIER FOR TEAM LEADERS ALONG THE WAY.

MAYBE IT IS HIMSELF WHO IS GOING TO BE PEDALING WITH THE LEADERS AT THE HIGH POINTS OF THE TOUR AND SO HE WAS GETTING READY FOR HIMSELF TO DO BATTLE

AND MAYBE IT IS HIMSELF WHO WILL TAKE ON THE 2 INDIVIDUAL TIME TRIALS COMING UP

OR DO YOU WANT KLODEN TO SAY "OUR TEAM WILL RACE THE INIDVIDUAL TIME TRIALS ALL TOGETHER SO OLAF V. CAN NOT WHINE AND CRY BACK IN BABBLE LAND THAT I EVER SAID THE WORD "I" WHEN I SHOULD ALWAYS SAY THE WORD"OUR" SO HERNANDO DOES NOT TAKE IT AS ME BEING SELLFISH WHEN WE ALL KNOW CYCLING IS ALL ABOUT THE TEAM AND NOTHING TO DO AT ALL ABOUT "I""

ESPECIALLY IN THE INDIVIDUAL TIME TRIALS WHICH KLODEN WAS ON SUBJECT ABOUT WHEN HE WAS DOING THE INTERVIEW YOU MENTION

SURE, DUMMY, HIS ENTIRE TEAM IS GOING TO DO THE INDIVIDUAL TIME TRIAL

KLODEN WAS MY PICK TO WIN THE TOUR THIS YEAR, AND NOW VINO HAS TO MAKE UP TIME HE LOST BEFORE THE MOUNTAINS EVEN HIT

KLODEN HAS BEEN ON THE TOUR PODIUM 2 TIMES, VINO ONCE, AND IF VINO GETS ON THE PODIUM THIS YEAR THERE IS GOING TO BE SOME SERIOUS ATTACKING IN STORE FOR THE RACE VIEWERS

SEE YOU ON THE TRACK HERNANDO!

Kloden cracked his ass

Anonymous said...

I heard vino actually cracked it for him.

dr-nitro said...

Someone cracked their keyboard and got their caps lock key stuck. Or was that for EMPHASIS ?

Unknown said...

I think I was sitting next to said "hater" on the podium while we were on deck for one of the A races wednesday night, and I'm pretty sure he was joking around with you about your flower.

i keed with Dholla all the time. Used to give him plenty of shite about his pink bike last year ("hey d, your sister called and she wants her bike back..."). that, and all sorts of other crap...and he can still punk my ass in an 82 inch gear whilst i pedal squares in my 92.

cause that's how i roll.

KLODEN WORKING FOR VINO IF YOU CHECKED OUT STAGE 8

RUMOR HAS IT HE DID NOT WANT TO UPSET OLAF SO HE GAVE UP ALL HOPE FOR HIS PERSONAL GC HOPES AND HE WILL ONLY WORK FOR VINO FROM NOW ON FOR THE REST OF HIS CAREER

P.S. GOT YOU ON THE TRACK!
