AVC Party ... check it
The promoters of the American Velodrome Challenge are putting on a serious bit of a partying to open up the 2-day event. Friday, July 20th is the nite ... drinks and food and much merry making will be on order.
And lemme tell you, there's some good ole' fashion speedsters looking like they'll show up for the racing. If you're anywhere near the San Jose area that weekend, you gotta show up and bang the boards ... watching these buggars drill it around the banks is pretty killer.
trust me, check it out - it'll be a nite worth the drive.
If you're interested in attending, it'd be cool to shoot an email to:
- the pah-tee coordinator, Ted Burns ~ tedburns71 at aol.com.
or, - the Race Director, Robin Horwitz ~ robinhorwitz at gmail.com.
That way they can be sure to buy enough brewskis to satisfy my gullet.
- - -
Note of cool:
They are putting together a Points Race in honor of John Peckham ... the racing cat who got killed by a driver awhile back. And with news of young Corinne going down by the same fate ...
let's just say ~ please be careful out there folks. And put this stuff in the proper persepective it belongs.
peace.

Perspective is so difficult in the context such a preventable event, but it's a good goal.
Sigh.
PROMAN gals will be there for sure. panda get on a track bike you'd be great!
I think if you go to this evite link you can access the invite page.

RSVP if you are into it, it's good for my ego.

It should be a lot of fun. It's not often where you can drink beer and have BBQ while seeing racers go around without missing anything.
olaf, did you warn these people about just how much beer we can (and will) drink??
sounds like fun but can someone explain the track competitions, keirin, madison,... sounds like dances to me
good thing cyclocross has given us lots of practice with it!
Lyne,
That's exactly the reason why AVC is having this party. Bring in fans who may be curious but do not understand track racing.
Here's a link with a quick crash course on those races:

FYI - It's just me but my favorite has to be the Keirin. It's the wildest, fastest and craziest race you can ever watch.
Going at 35+ mph behind the motorcycle then sprinting at 40+ mph. FUN!
The Madison, that is where it is at.
Anyone know how small the rentals go for the beginner sessions? Just askin'...
I think they've got some 48 in stock. I'm not 100% sure.
They do have PANDA size rentals.........
