ride that beeyotch
Here in the NorCal, we've got an oldie but goodie velodrome at Hellyer Park. At the moment, it's going through some sort of beauty upgrade and won't be open until early-mid summer.
I've been to a couple of the Saturday beginner sessions and fell in love with the track the first moment i pedaled on it. But, for the past few years - i've always lived too far away to make it to any of the weeknight showdowns ... and weekend racings were reserved for the farmroads, yo.
But this year ~ though i still work about 45-50 minutes away from the track ... it's do-able and I plan on getting out there to kick up the heels.
Points Race, kilo, pursuits ... hell, i'll even do match sprints if they make me. I love the pureness of the sport. I love that instant power transfer when you stomp on the gas and swoop down the embankment. I love that decisions must be made in a heartbeat and calculations must continue to run even as the blood pounds through your ears and deafens you to reason's cries to stop the pain.
... can't frickin' wait.

I truly resent people who live close enough to a track to race regularly. MF'ers.
Yay, vanderhoot will ride the track!
Can't wait.
YEAH! Bring it on! BJM will be out there too, local game will be raised big time this season.
Man, that's kewl!! We live 3+ hours away, but I'd like to get my big butt on that track at some point this year.
Dezi,
Come on out, you'll have so much fun. When it opens up this summer come ride w/ the JR's on Tuesdays and we can help you get your "track" legs.

Wait a second. Did I read that correctly? Did you say you "work" in that post ;)
I love the fact that the bikes don't get dirty so i don't have to clean them...
we'll have to commute together, seing as i'll be in watsonville soon.
Those Cat. 4 races are going to be interesting until Olaf upgrades.
