ah, crap. My lovely Sabine is driving Brenty to the airport so he can catch a flight down to Redlands to tend to his wife, Jen Jen. Apparently a rider in front of her clipped a haybale and sent it out in front of her ... causing the big endo at speed. She sounds ok, but you never know until you get all that stuff checked out.
just sucks. but we'll heal her up.
And so, today was the Hanford crits. I tell ya, those folks turn out that little town for the races. Really good vibe and lots 'o cashola up for grabs.
here's a few snippets before i take a shower and get ready for my sweetie to come home:
PROMAN's Tracy Ford pretty much rode a perfect race. She bridged to the right moves, organized the break to work efficiently, and sparked off huge sprints for some primes and the overall win.
It was so satisfying to see her ride so in control and with confidence.
This is why geezer racing is cool ... Sasser talkin' shop with his boy.
The Mighty Lothar and his coterie of coonhounds.
Pandalicious! Lil' Elis (because 'elis' is a four-letter word ;) worked hard to get in the break and stuck it out good.
Velo Bella's Heidi Horton would finish 2nd after a very cheeky attack on the final lap that almost netted her the win. But, Ford was just too powerful today and overcame Horton in the final 50 meters to win in style.
It was a great race to watch.

Aw, crap -- I hope Jen is okay.
Your race was awesome to watch while warming up on Sunday -- there was at least one Safeway in every section of that race, at the front of their group on the prowl. Very cool. So very cool. Even better was the bag boy cheer section in the middle of the course.
(I'm a rat for bringing it up, but my name is spelled with one "l" -- elis is a four-letter word ;).)
And Heidi definitely made the right move on that last lap.
notta rat
