padilla'd

well, i'm a fan of Klein's work ... so, here's a read if you're interested.

it's hard to maintain outrage at governments.

difficult to even believe that people ... are capable of such insanity.

... bike racing has got to save the world.

oh, but wait ... they take drugs to get across a stupid line first.

we're doomed.

i guess that's why it's so easy to fall prey to the story of original sin.

how else can we explain?

It is hard to believe that those things could have happened...yet I believe every word of it.

One might hope that this trial will bring this all to light, to widespread public attention, and that the people responsible for such evil will be punished. (and i think responsibility is born all the way through to the top of the command chain)

But my hope is slim.

On another level...

Some people will might brush this case aside in their minds because they figure this guy "was a bad guy anyway".

Maybe he was an evil guy. His background as a NYC gang member makes him sound scary, sure. Who knows what this guy does and doesn't deserve.

But the point has GOT to be that the representatives of the US government cannot be allowed to act in immoral, inhumane ways. Ever.

Or our society is ultimately doomed.

Bike racing ain't gonna save it. But it sure is fun.

All that's at issue is whether he's competent to stand trial now. Can he understand his charges and can he assist his defense?

Let's say the answer is "no." JP doesn't get to go free. He gets an extended stay in a criminal psych facility where the docs will try to "treat him to competency". Meaning that if he responds well to antipsychotics, he'll be tried then. If he doesn't, well, then he gets to stay in the Cuckoo's Nest forever. A "win" for JP is a slim one indeed.

Remember -- if he was driven insane after he committed the crime, insanity is not a defense.

Despicable, and a waste of perfectly good lsd too.

Pretty sick shit.
I love the military ways of thinking.

There are no innocent, if you break them no one will ever know.

My first real bike was a Klein.
I am a fan of Klein's work too, in the proprietary aluminum way.

Hey gnome, you can't get much for aluminum these days.

That was disturbing.

Breaking the man to get information and you end up breaking the man for good. And if you don't get any information?

One has to ask, how is this better than the gas chambers?

How long can we maintain "see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil"? And if it does come to light...what are we willing to do about it?

This isn't about hoping to give JP a fair trial, its about taking off the public's blinders. All JP can hope for is exposing these tactics and camps.
