This is why i think Disco is a bunch of mercenary pukes:
1 Riccardo Riccò (Ita) Saunier Duval-Prodir
2 Ruggero Marzoli (Ita) Lampre-Fondital
3 Vladimir Gusev (Rus) Discovery Channel
4 Stijn Devolder (Bel) Discovery Channel>
... that's right, in a 4-up break - they got 3rd and 4th.
because those europins ride like 2 year-olds fighting over the last gumdrop. Anybody remember Danielson getting left by 3 of his teammates on an opening mountain stage? What about that little race called Paris-Roubiax (pick a year)? And how about Flanders when Hoste worked with Boonen when Hincapie is just behind?
Now, I'm no fan of Hincapie - but the guy does play good as the teammate. I guess he cashed in his payback at the US Pro Champys with buttboy Levi dragging his ass to the line to beat poor old Bajadali.
... whatever. they get what they deserve.

On the way to work today - came across some chick riding flat out in the 53x13. I don't think she even knew she had shifters (downtube ver.1983). The drivetrain wasn't in all that bad of condition, though. No grinding, no rust ... and no shifting, ever. She just had her big 'ole backpack on, head down, helmet on - bent over the bars pushing 350w ... forever.
cadence = 17.

i'm hoping el Furioso will take over camera duties for me again this weekend at WatsonVile. His vid shots last week were the only ones not "shacky" and swimming through goop. I plan on leaving him at least 8 minutes of camera time to do his worst as I do my best to get out and race against the wee-boys on Sunday.
If we can get the course solidly marked on Saturday and not leave much to do race morning, maybe I'll be able to stay off my feet enough to throw on a race number. We'll see.
Thing is, i'm really interested to ride this course. I mean, that runnup is going to be pure hell ... but, I'm jonesin' to see how the other parts of the course ride.
