... speaking of being gay
The AIDS Ride from San Francisco to LA left out of Santa Cruz this morning. As I was at the stop light on Mission and Pacific, hundreds of cyclists were rolling past. At first, I didn't know what to make of it, of course. All I could see were a bunch of freddie-lookin' folk with wee red numbers strapped on their BicycleMag frames, riding on a Monday for chrissake.
So, I popped into Lulu's for a cup o' joe and saw a few of the yahoos in there doing the same.
"hiyo, what's this ride all about then?"
"AIDS ride from SF to LA ... you should do it next year."
"uh, no way dude. that sounds waaay too hard."
But secretly, I wanted more than anything to take the racey-racey bike out of Sputnik, strap on my own fast-freddie gear and join in with them. Because honey, these folks were doin' nothing but havin' a good time.
that's gay.

i did the AIDS ride in 2003. talk about a rolling party. nothing says entertainment like spending a week riding down the coast of california with over 1,000 gay men.
sign my ass up.
... uh
silly
I thought it might be fun too...
Until I though about the stretch from King City to Santa Barbara. Of course I would have to hammer and then lose 20 lbs in water and be the only guy dropped from the ride.
Next year I taking Bike to Work Day of and doing a Tour de Energizer Station.
The first one is Ptown BART then it's Northbound up San Ramon BLVD to Walnut Creek and over to Berzerkely.
There is also a cool little ride in Iwoa called RAGBRAI. Some register, some just ride it, all have a big party. Some of the little towns along the route ae about a 1/3 the popolation of the total riders.
ya'll know what i'm talkin' about with this post, if you know what i'm talkin' about.
peace out.
geez, could it get more complicated?
