crappy scribbles on a Monday morn ...

when you hear folks yellin' at you to keep diggin ... you just gotta keep diggin.

that's cool. and i thank all for the hoots, catcalls, and screams of 'go pansy-boy'.

that shyte helps the suffering. right on.

The UnSafeway boys went straight with the game plan and got ourselves a nice win with DanO storming solo for the 2nd half of the Nevada City Classic. It was very satisfying and we were quite pleased. With one lap remaining, it was me and an old friend setting up for a wicked hot final climb to see who would claim 2nd. The beginning of each lap is a spin out the 11t descent into a crazy set of left handers that shoots you promptly up a nice climb. I was following him through the turn and, unfortunately, his rear wheel hit a lil' bump in the hottest part of the apex ... down he slid. With me so close, I only had a hair's chance to get around him ... I swung my bike into the turn as hard as I could, but he bounced off the hay bails and I went straight into him, endo-ing and front flatting ... taking me out of the race.

I was ok, except for a couple of jammed wrists and a whole lot of pissed because of all that hard work wasted. Ah well, that's bike racing.

After that, we all lined up for the prosey race and that went about as expected. Moninger shredded everyone and is looking unstoppable for the Nez next weekend. The guy is a machine when he comes into his stage racing form. I was feeling like crap the first couple laps and just couldn't stay up in the group to make the inevitable first hard acceleration. Since my wrists were screwed, I had to ride the whole damn race in the drops ... which, I never really like doing on climbs. I felt like a crab going up the hill every lap. And ouch ... that descent was just jarring on my pipecleaners.

This morning the left is a bit swollen, but overall ... nothing of consequence. As for the finishing order, I'd be surprised if I was in the top-20. It was cool to see some of the local boys digging for some placings. fun ... but, i'm too tired to make anything poetic out of it, yet.

In the races I saw out there ... young friend, Micah Herman from Nevada won the juniors race in class and style. He kept on the attacks until he finally broke his chasers. Very courageous. In the women's event, a ProMan rider cracked a chase of 3 or 4 Webcor women and Anderson from T-Mobile. I don't think they thought she'd stick it out ... they thought wrong.

ah well ... gotta run.

ouch. crashing sucks. i'm sure it's nothing some vicodin and a 6-pack can't fix, though.

I heard you boyz ate it and I was honestly bummed for you. Sucks but its risky.

I was Uber nervous and rode like it. After I missed the split I actually rode pretty well, just ya now.......back there --------->

Still had fun as Nevada City is and will remain the most beautiful race on the circuit.

I'm still mad at you for doing the second race.

You are soooo in trouble

4 *fast* races in two days.

X Bunny said...

i know how that is

when pab crashed 4 times in one cx race he signed up for like every race still on the schedule for that day that he could enter

I'm thinking that Nevada City isn't the kind of race you do when you can't grasp the bars.

vdog = no vicodin, unless you're offering. 6-pack, ready and able.

mcSassy = yeah, hutch felt really bad about the whole thing. i told him, 'hey, that's bike racing.' Still, it was a pretty text book race for us and I wanted to finish it off with another blackard on the podium. ah well.

myBella = come get some.

pattyMac = great race on Saturday. frickin' 99 degrees, though? damn, turn that AC on, brudda. Great course - tough racing.

BunX = yeah, that sounds about right. you gonna get some blood work done to make sure you're all properly nutriented? i wish you would. this is a big change to your system and we gotta make sure you are firing on all cylinders. do it for your friendlies.

MM = we could have used some o' them viddles n' giggles ... n' snorts.

BBelf = 'tis but a flesh wound. see you at Pesky.

Oh man, that sux!! I was at the finish line at the end of the Masters race and we were all like "Where in the hell did Olaf go????" Couldn't figure it out. Man, hope you are doing okay. That sux. Now I understand why you were in the drops the entire time on the hill during the Pros race. That looked vicioushard.
