Geezo. This just goes on and on. But this new one is....well.....soapy! Kinda interesting.

so, let me get this straight.

The people that were such good friends, that they were at your deathbed, are now 7 years later giving you up?

Oh man, I really thought that this was gonna be a Days of Our Lives post... and well, as a kid in the '80s I spent many a hot Las Vegas summer afternoon watching DoL with mom. (C'mon, admit it, you know who Hope and Bo are, dontcha?)

Flash forward 20 years to yesterday when it was playing at Jiffy Lube whilst I was getting the car smogged, and low and behold, the plot moves so slowly on that show that I actually kinda knew what was going on.

OK, back to Lance... really doesn't establish anything even if it's true, except that before he won the tour and before he got cancer, he used perf enhancing drugs. i guess it taints the rainbow stripes, but doesn't directly call the tour wins into question.

The guy, who everyone views as a superstar and hero, puts you in the position that you have to lie under oath?

What kind of friend is that?

I hope people dont label the Andreus as "rats", I hate the whole rat concept...everyone (well most of us) think drugs in sports suck yet we seem to allow the vilification of those who are willing to point a finger.

Ah, what the hell, its only sports. Now dont get me started about idiots and liars in the government...

i don't think it's that the DoL plots move slowly ... i think it's just the same plot line.

played over and over and over.

sorta like doping scandals in cycling.

.

and speaking of rats...

Velo Bella said...

I don't think the Andreus are rats. I just wonder how much Lance alienated some of his deathbed friends.

I was hoping for a rat update this morning

And Paul cracks me up

Days of our Lives is still on?

wow.

"I stand by my deposition," Betsy Andreu told VeloNews Friday. "I didn't ask to be dragged into this mess...We were served with subpoenas by a Michigan court and we had no choice but to testify."

In his own defense, Armstrong said in a November deposition that no doctor had ever asked him whether he had used doping products and that Betsy Andreu held a personal grudge against him. Armstrong suggested that Frankie Andreu had simply gone along with his wife's account in order to offer her support.

MIght not have a whole lot of choice when subpeonad.

But you do have a choice of words (or no words) when interviewed by the press.

I wrote to Frankie Andreu today "I do not envy the position you are in today. But I remembered I had these photos from last week, so I thought I'd send them. Good luck facing the mosh pit."

And this was his response:

"Your telling me, what a pain in the ass. No matter how hard I try to break free I keep getting pulled in.

good luck at nez, and I'll talk to you later...frankie"

Two things: Andreu can't spell, and he thinks I am the other Chris Baldwin.

Chris, you're so famous.

wow, I hope Barb grabs some tongs and saves that rat .... there could be some major negative karma down the road if they flush that thing.

on the lancey front, he has a HUGE bully pulpit, I dont think its wrong to say "I stand by my deposition" publicly.

Actually, I've always found its strange that lance has pushed so hard to "prove" his innocence. Suing this and that person, trying to get changes at WADA. If he was doing it "for the sport" I might be down with it but it seems to be more of "if I slience everyone then the public will believe that I never doped."

He's retired, he's rich, he's famous for life, and most people believe he never doped. Unless irrefutable evidence is found that he doped (video of a cartoonish sized syringe of EPO being jabed in his ass?) his image is not in danger. So if he knows, deep down, that he never cheated why isnt he happy enough to sit back and enjoy his life?

i hope i'm never so rich and famous that people care about the intimate details of my life

I don't think its wrong either. Cranky Frankie should speak.

I just think it speaks volumes. That the word "bully" comes up when talking about friendships, speaks volumes.

You don't hear a peep out of the people close to Hamilton.

Velo Bella said...

Bun
BUt people do care. Check the stats on your blog lately?

VB, they might have been under oath, but if not, that's hella weak! If after saying that under oath, they repeated to the press, well, that's not so cool either. But damn, they got sucked into this mess.

As far as any palmares being tainted. Well, I'm sure no one else in those races was doping, right? So, if any of the TdF's were taken back, would they also test the rider who gets the win for placing second?

But really, we are talking about races that occured 5, 10 and 15 years ago. It's over, there is no changing any of it. Why must we revisit this stuff over and over?

So, what's going on with Days of Our Lives?

Oh and I secretly stalk unsuspecting pro female cyclists! Ok, only via their blogs.

rwaawr ...

lance shows the claws in response.

... does this mean no 10 year USPostal reunion?

didn't someone want a good scandal?...I believe this qualifies...anyone want to bet on how long it takes before a retraction is issued? Lance Inc. has lots of money and that is more of a threat than brie...

no sweet sailing for Lance on his retirement...it's too bad it had to be this way but hopefully the truth comes out...good for the French newspaper though, they love that stuff...

There was a report a few years ago that stated the doping drugs given to the Cofidis riders was found to cause testicular cancer.

Little_Jewford said...

"the panel ordered the insurance company to pay, not the $5mm owed, but that $5mm and an additional $2.5mm, which confirms the baseless nature of the accusations."

oh ya ... money ALWAYS eguals truth. Should I be suprised he's from texas?

Lets add L.A. to the list of "right" rich and white men from the longhorn state.

ok, that was funny.
