Mikey,

Spend a few weekends in the valley and you glow like a methlab.

You should have known better.

Okay, bonehead question of the day for Olaf - Do you race your Frayer road bike in cyclocross races??? How goes it??

hey mas chico!

no, it's a fully road-erific Frayer that I ride. It's custom made for my weird-ass riding style (72 degree seat angle and a much shorter top tube than most men-folk ride).

I have the cross brakes on because it is SOOOOOOO much safer for me to have those levers on. I love to ride on the tops of the bars in the pack. It lessens my shoulder strain and really allows me to relax and enjoy the ride (some might say it helps me conserve energy for when i need to use it in attacks ... but, maybe that's just silly talk). With the cross brakes, I can ride safely in the pack (at any speed) and still have my hands up on the tops. I can descend crappy road surfaces like Copperopolis in comfort and safety. But, the coolest thing about them? I can roll up to a red light and since my hands never go near the traditional brake levers - it looks like I stop with sheer power of will. That's boss, baby.

What I'm sayin' is, them things are just heaven.

Yeah, I get some crap for the dorkiness of the cross brakes on a road bike ... but, for chrissakes, look at me ... there's so much more than the cross brake action that scores high on the dork-0-meter ... who cares if I add a bit more?

Besides, if you can't laugh at yourself ... you ain't enjoyin' life, is my motto.

cool n'da gang.

Dude, that is just sweet!!! I dig the brakes - I saw the brakes on your road bike, and I saw your pics in cross races, but I couldn't tell if you were on your Frayer or not. Hey, you don't have to explain the brakes to me - I think they're rad! And as far as dorkiness goes, hey, I'm on that meter too......mountain shoes for the road bike. Oh well.....they're comfy.
