VB - I think the difficulty of the task of pinning was inversely proportional to the amount of material in the costume, and directly proportional to the amount of beer consumed.
I loved the little red number you had on at the start line. It was hot!
One of the guys on our team came in 5th in his race and was stoked about the prizes in the goodie bag. His family loved the t-shirt, candy eyeballs, gummy skull and crossbones, Clif products, water bottle and the envelope with the stack of hundreds! For a few seconds they believed he had actually won all that cash, but then they realized they had been "tricked" and the weekend ended.
Great event ya'll. Glad I was able to stop by briefly and check it all out. Maybe I'll race it next year.
Just thought I'd share a bit of my race report this morning.
"Unfortunately, the officials wanted to start us behind the B women again, which kind of soured our mood. But Mike Hernandez, in all his red-caped naughty boy/girl pirate goodness, called me up right after the A women, which moved the 35+ women behind the A field. Mike you are a god/goddess!"
Thanks for all the cheers from you and Sabine yesterday. You guys made me feel like Rocky Balboa. What a fantastic course!
Thanks to all the Bellas and Jeff for the amazing course, Antonio for the groovy tunes and next year a GOODY BAG is mine!
the weekend was a blast...even though i got my costume stuck on my brakes, ripped my pants, only had one leg of my jumpsuit, and now look like a battered woman... thanks for such a fun time! you guys are the best!
Beth - Every 'cross race leaves me with new scrapes and bruises (my legs are just about every shade of the rainbow, as is my right shoulder and my left bicep/tricep), but always with a smile and memories of fun racing and great people.
Mike & Sabine - A 1st Class event - thanks for the fun and games!
The red haired French maid was the highlight of every lap. I actually looked forward to the long run up more and more every lap. Something about a a girl in a maid outfit, acting a bit flirtatious, and giving out really positive comments just makes you want to go harder.
I've been searching for the right place to post my thanks to the organizers of this race and event, and I hope that this is the proper forum or that this will make it's way to the rightful recipients of praise. In short, I thought the days of all inclusive (or everyone has a right to be here) races were a thing of the past. I thought those races disappeared along with rigid fork mountain bike races. I was wrong -- the VB races make everyone feel welcome, and that's not easy. More impressive still is that everyone seems to get what they want -- parents are happy because the kids are racing, beginners are happy because there are a fair number of other beginners trying out a new sport, and experienced racers are stoked because there are other people taking it seriously. Under normal circumstances, I would have been very bummed about my race -- got the lead off the line and flew through the course until the back side, where I crashed and stuck my rear brake pad below the breaking surface. I could only claw back to 14th. Despite my lame mistake, I was pretty happy after the race -- with all the people having a good time it was next to impossible to be grouchy. Kudos to the VB crew.

No links to the pics of that sexy 'priate' in red? Seem to be enough a few of those pics showing up. Nice party; kudos to the Bellas and all.
Banged, bruised, beat. Good times.
Thanks for the great event, ya'll. It was first-rate all around.
I liked watching people try to figure out where to pin their numbers
I'm tired (and burnt) and I was just hanging out drinking beer!
great job everyone!

re-living the fun today looking at the pics and watching some vids...

it was good to be back.

i'm feeling a little depressed today though, now that it's over.

And where else can you have so much fun with your kids for about $40?

I bid you toodles.
