WTF you bad!

It will come back as quickly as it went away. Don't worry about that.

Should we be calling your surgeon to do an intervention? He/she might want to chain you to the couch or at least the stationary trainer for another couple weeks!

norcalcyclingnews.com said...

what the surgeon don't know won't hurt me.

it's been 3 weeks. that's a lifetime in hernando-scale.

Hmmmmmmm, does that mean that all of us injured types need to get to the hard workouts immediately ? Somehow I think it ain't quite time yet but don't let me stop you.

2 months after a shoulder injury and I was going out on a fast group ride feeling good and still a little nervous.

Took a coyote wandering into the pack to help me realize i was ready to ride but not to crash.

Its not the shoulder that concerns me.

Its that pesky navicular break.

What is the price of inpatience?

If you are going to do hill repeats after your shoulder was just broken and repaired then please do not ever ask for sympathy or do not ever cry about being hurt. I love you and you really need to rest and recover and give it time to fully heal. I do not want you to have problems down the road when now is the most crucial time to let it get fully strong again. I love you, you know this, and I just want you to take a break and let the pesky navicular break mend and the entire shoulder region regain its power and strength.
I love you.

riding now will probably lengthen your healing time exponentially... especially for those tiny bones in the hand that need full rest to heal over... and one little silly movement can erase a week of healing on that hand w/o you even knowing or feeling it...

have faith!

and trainers suck.

dr-nitro said...

Faith? I guess I thought that you would be more a man of science.

norcalcyclingnews.com said...

have faith in the science of hernando-healing.

besides, it's only life, afterall.

and if i blow out a bone or shit-kick a gasket ... think of all the fun to be had with the "itoldyousos".

dr-nitro said...

No itoldyousos from me. More like, thanks for clearing a spot on the podium for me.

Yeah, its good Olaf's leaving a space on the geezers podium and he's not going to Chico...

If only, I can keep my form for 2 weeks more...

Coach, are you there?

Good luck with the healing, Olaf.

The surgeon has done his job and got paid. He doesn't care if you screw it up.

At this stage, pain is not an accurate indicator of the completeness of healing.

An x-ray would show that after four weeks there is NO, NONE, nada new bone material. What you get (at our age) after three to four weeks is some collagen beginning to fill in the gap in the fracture. At about 6 weeks the collagen is fairly strong and then calcium begins to fill in. If you fall on it before about 6 weeks you'll likely end up with a larger fracture to heal, and maybe it would need screws to hold it together because that healing episode could take even longer than the first.

Back on the bike already!!

I would probably have done the same.

I am with you on the trainer front. Trainers SUCK! I would rather ride in the pouring rain than sit on my trainer.

meh-wee-uhn said...

You'll probably see the podium, but you'll just be seeing it with someone else on the top of it.

But, if they want to paint a target on their backs for you, go ahead and let 'em. It's only a matter of time...

X Bunny said...

depending on how you're doing them, i see no problem with hill repeats at this point

i saw you doing way worse things at home

that freedom that comes with being back on the bike is pretty special and i'm glad you've got that again

be good

When it's your livelihood and paycheck that are on hold you sometimes have to get back on the horse a little sooner than the overly cautious doctors would suggest.

Oh wait...you race masters...for cheap ugly t-shirts. What was I thinking?

But don't let reason and logic stop you, I am sure you will have loads of fun watching from the sidelines...forever.

It is so nice that everyone is positive and loving to eachother and understanding and forgiving. I hope you keep on cooking up some of that sweet desert of yours.

Anonymous said...

This is so much better with everyone being positive and happy and not saying anything bad about people. We can all learn from a little love and food and liquor mixed together for fun times.
