Did Moreau lose le' Tour today? 3 minutes from the boys he couldn't lose a drop to in the Pyrenees makes one think he did. He could gain back that much in the two TT's ... and probably will ~ but, that will plop him down (yet again) as best Frenchy and looking from the nosebleeds at the podium.
All this talk about Vino's knee going "septic" had me worried for a few minutes ... but then i realized he'll just gnaw off the infected tissues and go back to pedaling hard.
That Khazak is a marauding beast. And he remembers ... and he repays.

Nice ride by Disco, CSC, and C'dEspargne today. They had multiple riders up there when Astana brought the hell-fires down on the peloton. Mayo and Evans survived on grit and maybe some luck ... but the differences in teams' strength and awareness show'd through in those hairball 50Ks.
Rasmussen had the Yellow Jersey saving his ass today. Because in any normal flat, windy stage's riding ... his ass would have been in the laughing group. But, since he had the golden fleece, it kept him up front and given room to stay there.
lucky bastard.

Tomorrow should be a brilliant breakaway day. Will we see this year's Periero gift given? 21 minutes give to someone like ... Hincapie? or maybe the young 'almost mulletted' Dekker? All of a sudden finding themselves within earshot of a podium?
hmm...

Who would have thought that baby blue could look so manly.
Moreau criticized the contenders for not kicking the blonde Kazakh when he was down during the first alpine stage. le rendement est une chienne.
le monde est circulaire
"hors délais David Zabriskie (USA) Team CSC"
no fukking way.
he was time cut? i thought i saw him driving it earlier in the day?
what a nutjob.
CSC down one, though.
Z missed the time cut :-(
simultaneous posting!
he has a knee injury...
How can anybody NOT love Vino after that show this morning? Send the boys to the front to pin it. Then attack himself inside 5k.
Personally, I don't see how he can even pedal. What with brass balls the size of grapefruits hanging in the way.
I guess Dave Z put in too much of an effort for the laterne rouge today.
If Stephen Colbert does not award Vino with with a pair of Colbert's big brass balls, then I'll be letdown. He already named the alpha dog of the week.
cycloscott - Vino was well rested. He must have spent a good 15-20K of yesterday's stage getting medical 'assistance'. I ate breakfast and bathed while he was getting his 'aid'. Moreau should have pulled the same today.
That was:
1) an excellent show of cajones by the Astana guys and Vino himself
2) a good object lesson in why we should ALWAYS ride in the front if we can. When the hammer goes down, everyone in the last 1/3 of the peloton gets left digging the chamois out of the crack while saying "WTF just happened?"
there were opportunities earlier on to put the hurt on Vino but no one did it...
flipside...Vino is taking the opportunity to drop his contenders...
i predict a stage win for Vino in the Pyrenees...even if it's not a stage win - he will do some damage...
today was a prelude to what he can do...
he is just f'kin awesome
points for Ippoc!
HEY! SOME OF US HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET!
Loved it when the Astana boys put the hammer down, and then that attack by Vino, what cajones!!
But please not Hincapie tomorrow, I can't handle hours of OLN (can't call it that stupid name) fawning on him saying that he could win the Tour or is the best classics rider or whatever other nonsense they spout.
meow...
hilarious photo.
poor frogs.
I started a page for Vino on Colbert's Wikiality site.
So, Vino fans, go there and spruce it up, and let's see if we can't get him recognized.

lyne - they can show/talk about Hincapie as much as they want as far as I'm concerned. Meow indeed! I do find the stars and stripes kit a little barfalicious, though.
I think Vino's move was dumb. He had the whole world wondering if he could do anything in the rest of this Tour and now they know. And he gave all that away for the chance to steal a few seconds.
Like a good points racer, you don't show what you've got until you have to.
But there's no romance in that.
His attack was not for the seconds he could have gained, but to give us all an image, of him going mach 7 plus in front of a charging peloton while bandages hung from both knees.
We all knew the move was fruitless, thats what made it so lovely.
A ceremonial charge into battle of sorts...
Vino blows the horn ...
Not meow just bored with the OLN coverage as far as interviews.
I just wish they would interview other folks as opposed to boring Levi every day. Fast Freddie's was good. A lot of riders speak english, they could branch out, or use a translator.
but Hincapie just OOOZES energy in those interviews.
talk about your classic case of, "no honey, don't talk ... let me just look at you."
the peloton has a beautiful and sadistic non-verbal language...
today Vino said...
"be afraid, be very afraid..."
When Ms. Chatterbox sees Hincapie being interviewed all she hears is "blah blah blah blah blah ...."
My favorite Hincapie quote of all time.
Last winter some friends and I went to the NorCal HS Bike League fundraiser in Oakland where they showed 'Cobbles Baby' (which was horrible). Fast Freddie called up George to have him give some insights before watching the movie (which was horrible).
George: "Well it's really hard because it's so long. And you've got to ride on more than 20 miles of cobbles, which is like riding on cobbles for over 20 miles."
Nice analogy.
Then we watched the movie (which was horrible).
dear Mr. Hoot,
May I comment from the sidelines? I thought Vino's actions today were all about team morale. Instead of nursing him along as they have been doing, he put the team on the offensive. And then that flier off the front said the same to me. Its still not clear if its for him or for Kloden, but I bet the team tastes blood now, and its not Astana blood this time.
word
There are some serious prognosticators up in here but I think that's more like a Word Up there OV.
Vino is going to make them taste it for the next week and a half.
And it won't be sweet.
- Like a wounded tiger. Even more dangerous.
DZ bailed out and blamed...HIS SHOES.
Damn you Sidi.
you know i just loves the passion, JTA.
from the racers AND us plebs.
Is that Thomas Dekker? He looks like he's in the same boy band as Schleck
show off ...
tried to warn you about the almost mullet...
I am not sure if it was total coince' today that Frenchy was getting fixed up when Astana put on the gas....
Who tried to lead the charge against an injured Vino in the mountains a few stages back, when his chips were down?
Everybody hurts... some... time, you find out real quick the peeps you have pissed off when your number comes up.....
DZ doesn't just drop, he must have had some real issues, with a TT around the corner and all, poe guy...
