coupla randoms to "start" the week

bah ... couldn't muster the juice to get on the interwebs yesterday.

Sir Whine-a-Lot report ~ no broken bones for me, yippee. I'll be racing this weekend and while i won't be near 100%, i will have to be relatively fast to keep ahead of the ass-whoopin' my woman is gonna have for me when she hears i'm pinning on numbers.

i like it when she chases me.

thanks for all the notes of get-well n' stuff. mucho appreciado.

Mayo spoiled the spanish sauce ~ yeah, yeah, yeah ... those who were linked with Operacion Puerco are getting, slowly but surely, nabbed by the needle noses. Honestly, i was never really a fan of Mayo.

there was something about the way he cracked. it wasn't with spirit. i prefer the riders who crack and as though death himself latched claws onto their back. i respect and love to see riders barely able to turn a pedal crank, dripping in pain and ... somehow finding that small iota of energy to push one more revolution up the hill.

but with Mayo - i always got the impression he just ... gave up. i never saw him really suffer, struggle, fight tooth and nail before the weight of hurt crushed him into nothingness.
-

Slipstream swimming up it ~ welly, well, well ... the chipotle boys have coo'd up VandeVatevah, Zabrinksti, and Millar the friendly ghost.

and apparently, have also signed a "former Paris-Roubaix winner". hmm ... Maggy Baggy has always been a favorite of mine - and when he's healthy, he's pretty kill-bot on a bike. That would be cool.

So, them argoyles are really on the TDF trajectory ~ kind of hip to see. It's like another version of when Mercury tried to go Euro ... except these guys don't have their heads up their asses.

Wordin ... whatever happened to that loon-bottom?

No Mas Safeway ~

I'm sure my homeboy Pasco will get a bit bent for this ... but, why delay the news. The BagBoys are officially calling it quits after this season.

I will just say that it has been an absolute priviledge to race with these guys.

The best.

Good news on the bones, bad news on the bagboys.

Hmm, smart move on Vaughter's part to pick up Backstedt: former PR winner means good invites, total lack of results in the past 2 years means cheap.

No Safeway means... ? A new geezer superteam? A resurgent Spine? Zteam bumping from 175 to 180 riders? What with all le dopage at TdF, there was precious little silly-season talk of trades in the Pro ranks - at least now idle minds have grist for the rumor mill.

You & Pabcid would look fabulous in spots...

I know I can't stop you, but please don't be ridiculous.

You're not even in trubble, you are in trouble.

I am throwing up my hands.

And going to the track.

Whaaat? No more bagboys drilling in on the front? No more "will you like paper or plastic with those legs I just ripped off of you?" Incredible! Another great team for the stories of "remember when?"

Your race in Fresno at the Crit will always be burned into my braincells as the greatest fight for it. You'll have to come back next year to do it again.

Great job to you and all of the baggies for the great season and for whats to come.

SJBC would love to have the bag boy contingent from the area back on our team (Wire, Nevitt and everybody else who's got SJBC roots...or is located near us)!

Don't shoot a resume to Sierra Nevada. They only race with people they like.

They should be able to afford to keep it going, based on what they are beating us up on price of goods!

like those strawberries...

and I don't even eat them, unless I make them for my lady with chocolate. mmmm...

and Jwordin was at the Landis trial in support of Landis...so he's still around.

Too bad about the local boyz in black. Fun while it lasted.

Trackies have some nice choices. LGBRC-Easton Specialized, Montana Velo, and the Green Machine of Webcor have track-centric riders and support. I think the greenies will have something a bit more special than previously in the next season for their trackies.

What am I gonna do with all these Safeway socks?

Steve Griffiths said...

Sprocket, you sound bitter. We at Specialized/Sierra Nevada like the Bagboys... and most everyone else too.

Mike and the other baggies. Hope you guys can keep the band together in some form. It's been great having you annimate the field and drive the competition to a higher level.

Crashing sucks, I'm glad you're in one piece.

I agree with Todd.

Local talent should search out local teams whenever possible. I see too many cases where riders join teams that are scattered or too far away from their home-base.

Make some kitty onesies with those bagboy socks.

to distract OV from racing, I think he needs to be tied up and locked in the house...

I'm gonna miss seeing you all race together...I was just getting all the names correctly associated with the right person

Slipstream will have to remove their "america's young professional cycling team"...aren't those new additions close to geezerdom?

ippoc..."tied up" sounds kinky...

how can you heal when you are racing...bad boy, bad.

The only thing constant is change.

I feel like I have gone through an accelerated 2 year degree in teamwork. If I had known this was the end, I wouldn't have been cheating the last few tests.

The season is not over yet, it is bad form to start announcing this stuff publicly. Just for that next time you take me off after a race I am going to hide under the seat in Sputnik and and make it smell like skid marks for months.

too late

Double skid marks!

Olaf needed to out scoop the Velonews RasMOOsen article on doping, so he made up some stuff about the baggies. That's just sad ;)

are you sayin' i'ma drama queen, pattymac?

dr-nitro said...

Gee, your gal had a whole post about envisioning you in a skirt.

Flower in your helmet.

And you know that you piled it into the curb just to get some attention.

norcalcyclingnews.com said...

am i that transparent, nick?

get yo' ass up to f'ord this weekend so i can spank it, drop it, and make fun of it in a blog posting.

it's been too long since the Nitro-train has unleashed fury upon the NorCal scene.

or, do you need fabio-Kramer here to hold your *** while you pee?

i'm glad you are feeling better, michael.

Um, I was doing laps in your neighborhood the other week, but you were probably doing those silly, small, banked laps.

But I've got me a somewhat local road race down these parts on Saturday. There is an outside chance I head North for the Timpani crit, since me ol' mate, Corndog McNeil, will be working the reg, and he wants to point me out to his kids, saying "look, there's my old team mate kicking the ass of that guy with flower in his helmet." But that is a long way for a short race just to make you look like a fool.

Paterson, though.

bwahahahaha ... there's me ole' nitro, talkin.

bring it, beeyotch.

Drat! I've been having a recurring nightmare that I'm at my first race as a bagboy and I can't find the start. I hoped it was a good omen.
