geben mich un break

yeah ... i know there's all kinds of things we could say about how Jannypoo might have done the dopage.

but ~ there are really only two things that draw out the keyboard in me about this VsNews splash page:

  1. They pick a chubber Jan picture to go with the drug charges.

You gotta admit, these cats at VN do have a sense of humor when they toss up the accompanying photos.

  2. That they have to announce the USAC 'outsourcing story' was an April Fools joke.

... i can only imagine that some of the admins at USAC got all bent because they were fielding a dozen calls of outrage about the story.

    perfect.

i'll probably only be able to scratch out enough time to toss up either a CCCX mtb race report or some more smack talk about Ojai crit racing.

... stupid work is totally getting in the way of my real job.

Cycling news used a pic from the same news conference, but one where it leaves the reader to put the words in the mouth of him saying that he never cheated.

I have a feeling, though, that this will put some serious pressure on Basso.

eurosport has a more flattering although contrite looking picture of jan

All that blood had to come from some bodies... and der Jannendoper looks like he was in need of a blood-letting!

The 4/1 USAC/Outsourcing & NBC/Horner headlines were so obvious that I did not even read the 'stories'. I focus my web-wastage on the word of 'nando & NCNCA updates.

that pic is really bad, complete with the toothpaste spittle in the corner of his mouth

yes not flattering, but at least no cold sores...

poor Jan.

i do feel for the guy.

but, i have to think Nitro is right ... Basso may be next.

this year's TdF may be just as exciting with the on-bike and off-bike drama.

i'm just waiting to see if Kloden knifes Vino in the back (if they even get the invite...)

Speakin' of April Foolz.. I thought your bit a few days ago featuring Road Bike Action was a photoshopped tongue-in-cheek jab at the original and utterly vacuous MTB Action. That is, until I returned from our weekend race and found my very own introductory issue in the mailbox.
Not even the Chris Barton interview redeemed it.

Cipollini dismisses brothel rumors...Cyclingnews understands that the police have now ended its investigation. "Rather than prosecute the matter, we have had a look at things and decided instead to ask Signor Cipollini for some tips," said one senior officer.

surely an April Fools..

I don't know that I feel sorry for the guy. Call me gullible, but I do believe that the Landis affair is a matter of sloppy lab work couple with a zeal to catch cheats. And while it is possible that he was on other juice, I don't think he did the patch.

Now, with Jan, this would have to be some serious conspiracy to get him in this mess, and that certainly sounds like his response, but I have a hard time believing that that is the case. He needs to fess up. He could do the sport some good if he goes the Millar route and become an advocate for cleaning up the sport.

I might feel a bit sorry for him in that he is the only one that has been hit. And I'm still frustrated that the focus of the affair has only been on the cyclists who had connections with Fuentes. But for crying out loud, Jan was on the bag. Maybe Fuentes did not like him and thought that if he ever was busted, Jan would be taking a fall. Oh conspiracy theories abound.

But again, if there is a suspect bag for Basso, Disco might be giving up their star soon. Especially since they are looking for new money.

Ich bin kein Deutscher, but I think it's: Geben (Sie) mir...

Etwas das Ich nicht verstanden hab': Die Konnection zwischen Riis und Ullrich und danach zwischen Riis und Basso. Ich glaube Riis grosser Doper war.

Obtuse, I know, but I started thinking about when B. Roll wrote for velonews.

Riis ... i just don't know what to think of that guy.

is he running a clean ship now with CSC?

who knows. but ... that movie, Overcoming, sho' was some good drama.

drama.

Oddly enough, Riis has some more credibility. He'd have more credibility, though, if he'd come clean.
