that's bike racin'
from cyclingnews:
17:24 CEST Basso just looking so comfortable the whole time. He didn't panic about any of the surges and just kept his rhythm. He now leads Simoni. They already have 1'05 to Savodelli's group.17:28 CEST Guttierrez and Piepoli are now 20 seconds behind Basso now. Basso gets out of the saddle for the first time as he rounds a hairpin. He gets back on top of the gear and sits again. He looks good, but also determined to take as much time as he can.
il terrible ... so hot now.

Basso goes under the 1km to go banner. The atmosphere is great up here. The crowd is huge and the roads are painted all the way up. Basso has a smile on his face now.
Manolo Saiz isn't smiling right now though...
he sure isn't
and we all thought those 8 weeks before the tour with no racing (and hence no in competition testing) was ... just really focused training.
yeah, my heart bleeds for poor Manolo.
criminalizing performance enhancing drugs ... hmmm, how do i feel about that?
That guy became suspect when he pulled the entire ONCE team out of the '98 TdF once they started searching team vehicles. That was a good way to not get caught, eh? There are interesting insights on doping within the ONCE team in "Breaking the Chain" - that is one hell of a book.
Cyclingnews.com has a better update than velonews. Sorry, I don't know how to link...
so ... i guess we should ask if Liberty Seguros will get their invitation to the TDF yoinked back.
that would mean no Vino ... the only guy who can light up the Tour with Basso and Ullrich stomping around like giants.
poor Vino.
poor doped up Vino.
ah hell, maybe he's clean.
bwahaahahahahahaaahhhahahaahaaha!
