speed vs hgh

bloody hell ...

Liberty Seguros announced Thursday it's immediately ending its multi-million-dollar sponsorship with the ProTour team while Spanish authorities are reporting that as many as 200 riders and athletes could be implicated in a widespread doping network.

News that Saiz was caught red-handed with a refrigerated bag containing frozen blood and €60,000 in cash ...

Authorities raided four apartments Tuesday and claim to have found 200 packages of blood as well as thousands of doses of human-growth hormones, EPO and anabolic steroids that included codes to indicate which rider should receive the injections.

El Pais reported Thursday that as many as 200 riders could be implicated. One of them, T-Mobile's Jan Ullrich, has denied reports on Spain's Cadena SER radio that he has worked with fuentes [sic].

... makin' me sic.

but you know what?

get em.

damn right. somethings gotta be done to clean it up or it will never stop. talking about it just doesn't seem to help.

btw, I hope this all doesn't come as a shock to anyone....

Do you think, at any point, that these guys looked around and realized that they are surrounded by frozen blood and needles and drugs...and wonder how they let it come to this?

norcalcyclingnews.com said...

it was there before they came along ... will be when they are gone.

you don't ride the Tour de France on mineral water alone

true.

it will never go away entirely.

but i think they need to either police it more effectively...or quit trying altogether and let it become WWF on wheels.

It would be a shame to do the latter, though. I kinda like bike racing...

criminalization of performance enhancing drugs.

throw 'em in jail instead of handing them soft 1 year suspensions?

tough decision.

What I mean is..one day you are riding up and down the hills of spain and dreaming of racing, and the next you are paying some eastern european drug dealer for a bag of blood.

At what point do you realize the romance is gone?

moo

glory, empty though it may be, is romance enough for some, methinks.

boo.

the glory should come from the process, not the result

It amazes me how some people have no moral compass whatsoever.

you guys are definitely all on the same page - perhaps that is why you race so well together

"dont blame the player, blame the game"

ok, I dont buy it either but in a way, pro cycling is cost/benfit and risk management thing. For teams, riders and sponsors if the benfit of doping and winning outweighs the cost of getting caught then, as crappy as it is to say, you dope. I might lnot ike it, I might think dopers suck, but if I am in the minority of people who really wont cheer for teams/riders who dope or support the sponsores of those riders then really doping does pay. Look at Fielipe Manwhater .... he's got a ride and what seems like plenty of fans.

Hell you think we have it bad look a baseball, talk about a sport with its head in the sand. Pete Rose is a frickin angle compared to the guys today...but who cares? Not the fans, not the owners, not the sponsors, not the cities who pour money into stadiums...

I'm done..
