caught in the act

Came across a certain bike rider/engineer in the hills o' santa cruz yesterday. He was proto-testing some super-secret technology that may just become the "thing" that everyone will want in a couple years.

... i mean, it was pretty cool.

He swore me to secrecy about not letting anyone know about it. I told him, no problem. So, now I'm gonna blog all about it.

I can tell you what it wasn't ...

it wasn't a new shifting system.

it wasn't a bar/stem/frame/seat monocoque creation. (though i do love saying mono-coque .... mmm, monocoque ...).

it wasn't a drive-train powered GPS system (though i'm sure mtbGin already has one).

it wasn't a see-through helmet.

it wasn't see through spandex (though i've already got some).

it was ... very light, very aero, and was slicker n' euro-disco.

... and there were two.

It was on the other side of revolutionary.

... what a damn show off he is.

remind me not to tell you any secrets....

I like the lyric, "A secret is something that you tell one other person... so I'm tellin' you."

So, let's see, with those clues, I'm guessing it was a carbon tandem recumbent with full on fairings and all that aero shit. Am I right?

GPS for Team Wrong Way? Survey says, "Highly Unlikely"

Velo Bella said...

Yes, GPS for Team Wrong Way. NO hiding that your team is full of engineery types.

And don't make me refer you to Isaias blog o' graphs.

Well, I may be a techie kinda guy, but I'm no racer geek like IJob.

Funny, many moons ago we sent a sponsorship proposal to Garmin when they first showed up - we thought, what a perfect partner - the ads would read, "Garmin helps Team Wrong Way go the right way! Guess they didn't think it was as catchy as we thought...

i figured they'd come out w/some spiffy wheels eventually--otherwise why would they have let the trispoke go?

now i want details, dammit...

sorry, that's all i'll ever say on the subject.

he's just too cute and cool a cat to give out anymore.

we'll all just have to wait. i hope they come out soon, though.

We're gettin' lot's o' schwag from our friends at Moose Drool/Big Sky Brew. I'll make sure you get sumptin'... I mean, we did briefly ride by each other so that makes us good buds in the blog world. Guess that won't happen again since you aren't in Live-No-Mo no mo.

If you race on the dirt you could enjoy some "recovery drinks" with us afterwards... hell, you could just show up and I'm sure there'd be enough to go around.

methinks VB and i are gonna hookey it from trabajar next week to pre-ride the Sl-otter course.

if not, we'll pre-ride it that Saturday.

... we'll need a GPS unit ...

and refreshments.

ginmtb said...

I'm pre-riding this Saturday (3/18). 9:30am - Reservation Rd/Portola Dr. entrance. A few TWWers and a VB will be there.

Of course, you prolly have a race to do...

Velo Bella said...

yeah...we're going to go round and around in circles up in SacTown.

PAB(a.k.a.CID) said...

what's a trabajar?

Ron Castia said...

What what what? Did I read that right? OV is doin some MTB Racing, or is that a road course pre-ride?
Here is hoping for the MTB. That would be cool! Semi-slow, right?

ginman, you gonna be out on sunday also?

i think i'm planning on doing my first mtb ride after central coast.

ginmtb said...

Nope, only got one hall pass - and I'm not ready to race quite yet. But I'll definitely be at the Otter (all weekend) and will make it a point to meet the people I blog with... assuming y'all want to meet me. If you're so inclined, you should come out Saturday - Kathleen B. will be riding with me as will a few others. It will be a fun ride.

she's been trying to get me on an MTB for years, i may have to just go now

i'll call her and see if i should be okay (cuz I don't trust guy's judgements, especially yours)

i was gonna do a 6 mile run, but I can do it after the ride, i suppose?

OV (VB)- which course (RD/XC?), which day next week? Me and mine have been talking the same, would be fun, no?

norcalcyclingnews.com said...

bwaahahaha ... damn brenty has gone all blog-erific.

norcalcyclingnews.com said...

we're just pre-riding the xc course. i'm not sure when it will be, but we'll let you know, eh.

i won't be racing any of the seaslaughter, just doing support for 'da Bellas.

Reed Maxwell said...

BM: it's about time you upgraded to Semi-Slow, so that you're good for something other than hauling that holy hand grenade around...

I have to always make sure I bite off more than I can chew, to do otherwise just wouldn't be right for my idiom.

Double-headed disposable carbon razor??? Awesome!! I wonder if they have 'em in titanium too.
