Even if I'm just trying to beat Griff into the ground, it's so much more meaningful than some schmoe in Europe winning some race doped to the hilt. Flandis is signed up for the Mt. Most of them make a good living doing just track stuff, so they are better at it. For US endurance track riders the track is of secondary importance for their fitness, and the sprinters have almost no means of earning a living doing just track, so they do something else.WarrenGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16524271078611979940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881625.post-9090948524789287692007-10-05T13:00:00.000-07:002007-10-05T13:00:00.000-07:00The mass start time standard, good or bad, is not ...The mass start time standard, good or bad, is not so hard for someone who is also capable of being competitive in a World Cup race. So far, the number of US riders who can make the standard is about as the number who can be competitive in the mass-start races-maybe 3 or 4 total among men and women. (check the results from 2007 Worlds) But the standard isn't the only way to get invited to WC races.WarrenGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16524271078611979940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881625.post-30470224836773178162007-10-05T12:43:00.000-07:002007-10-05T12:43:00.000-07:00mini-phinney is no mini, but it's a good nickname....mini-phinney is no mini, but it's a good nickname...and at 17, he seems to be the next big thing...Ippoc Amichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11261144628288901225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881625.post-45572127082973081172007-10-05T12:36:00.000-07:002007-10-05T12:36:00.000-07:00"mini-phinney"i hope he likes that nick-name, for ..."mini-phinney"

i hope he likes that nick-name, for all of us who admire his folks. and if anyone hasn't ever read their book, Training for Cycling ... pick up a copy.

good stories, good tips, good read.

and of course there are always going to be locals, young and old, who get weak and go artificial.

but, you know my motto ~ take what you want, i'll still beat you.

one way or another.norcalcyclingnews.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14663837359225799079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881625.post-20641255894999854272007-10-05T12:20:00.000-07:002007-10-05T12:20:00.000-07:00Some Track Masters do HGH and Steriods like Nick C...Some Track Masters do HGH and Steriods like Nick Cheneywith--now he has cancer.

So there might be some locals "on the pill"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881625.post-7241862391805365102007-10-05T12:19:00.000-07:002007-10-05T12:19:00.000-07:00Phinney (is he really only 17??) says he will cont...Phinney (is he really only 17??) says he will continue to make road his focus.Velo Bellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10478413071373565411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881625.post-27802762582337910562007-10-05T12:08:00.000-07:002007-10-05T12:08:00.000-07:00Ok its football, but did you see what this guy was...Ok its football, but did you see what this guy was supposedly using?:

http://tinyurl.com/2d5eal

Do a search on the muscle head forums and youll find all sorts of stuff that they claim you wont test positive for epo/roids etc...

Better labs and researchers are needed..yes.Brenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05294419944927515078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881625.post-83057086920651069682007-10-05T11:51:00.000-07:002007-10-05T11:51:00.000-07:00uh ... My point is that it should not be a surprise that doping takes place when the standards are set so high that some very talented folks (BJM is simply an example I can relate to - I've seen him ride and his results speak volumes - 2nd on NRC points even after missing several races) can't reach them. Since there are riders who can achieve these standards, why aren't they competing down in LoCal right now? I'd love to see them match up against our riders during an event of this sort - it is Nationals, right??? I suppose there will be Oly trials coming up pretty soon, and don't know all the details of qualifying for the trials, but I gotta suspect Natz is one port of entry. I suppose I'm showing my age a bit here - I remember when the Olympics were contested by amateurs, not professionals.

OK, enough verbal spewage - LJ, your point is well taken.dblriderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15683655836648286439noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881625.post-24868828689624682362007-10-05T10:55:00.000-07:002007-10-05T10:55:00.000-07:00"i want playground antics, eyes revealing clear co..."i want playground antics, eyes revealing clear consciences...." The Federations wonder why riders dope - gee, you set an impossibly high standard (BJM can't make it????) and don't think riders will do whatever it takes to make the cut? Crazy.
